The third baseman hit .579 with eye-popping 1.368 slugging and .615 on-base percentages (1.983 OPS) in a 5-0 week for the Engineers. Five of his 11 hits were home runs for 26 total bases to go with 16 RBI and 12 runs scored. Gallagher's home run proved to be the difference Tuesday at Emerson before adding four more, including a game one grand slam, Saturday versus Coast Guard.
It is the Engineers fourth weekly conference honor and second national accolade this season. Senior Nick Comei (Haverhill, MA) claimed both the week ending March 12. Gallagher shares the conference accolade with MIT junior Austin Filiere (Chandler, AZ) and is joined by Clark' junior shortstop Kyle Bonicki (Waterbury, CT) on the team of the week.
Gallagher and Filiere's Engineers face off at the New England Baseball Complex today in a 3:30pm NEWMAC divisional crossover matchup. WPI won last week's meeting 7-3 in Cambridge.
