Men's Rowing Sees Varsity Eight Best Trinity for First Time in Noble Era

Worcester, MA --- The WPI men's rowing program hosted one of its largest regular season regattas on Saturday morning, welcoming five other schools to Lake Quinsigamond.  The varsity eight continued their recent strong run, finishing second. including defeating Trinity for the first time under the tutelage of 15 year head coach Larry Noble

The varsity eight comprised of John Morrissey (New Milford, CT), Matt Foley (Pepperell, MA), Kendall Cotton (Harvard, MA), Alex Barat (Franklin Park, NJ), Gary Jackson (Hopedale, MA), Joe Sperry (Northampton, MA), Keegan Cole (Spencer, MA), Nick Van Sciver (Wayland, MA), and coxswain Mitra Marvasti-Sitterly (Glastonbury, CT) rode a tailwind to a sizzling time of 5:55.14, 3.36 seconds behind winner Trinity but 2.49 ahead of the Bantams.   

The second varsity eight made up of  Norm Harris (Gilford, NH), Nick Cebry (Bedford, MA), Michael Beinor (Sutton, MA), Matt Deptula (Budd Lake, NJ), Brede Doerner (Branford, CT), Dean Schifilliti (Ossining, NY), Danny Singer (Eldersburg, MD), Jackson Krupnick (Asheville, NC) and coxswain Kelsey Regan (Winchedon, MA) rowed to a third place finish, clocking a 6:11.34.    

The third varsity eight of Zach Gendreau (Galesville, WI), Dan Seaman (Claremont, NH), Scott Cazier (Wheat Ridge, CO), Jack Perry (Londonderry, NH), Keegan Train (Excelsior, MN), Paul Esteve (Colchester, CT), Ryan Killea (Hillsborough, CA), Bobby Ronacher (Dunedin, FL) and coxswain Oliva Perry (Canton, MA) also finished third, reaching the finish line in 6:26.08. 

WPI hosts Tufts Sunday in the annual battle for the Baker Cup along with Skidmore and Vermont.
