Worcester, MA --- WPI men's rowing closed out its regular season Saturday morning on Lake Quinsigamond facing Division I foes Boston College and UMass. The matchup with the Eagles featured racing for the McCarthy/McGee Challenge Cup.
The Engineers varsity eight rowed to a second place finish, turning in a time of 6:13.22. Boston College will take the Cup back to Chestnut Hill after reaching the finish line in 6:05.11 while UMass came in third with a time of 6:30.42.
WPI's second and third varsity eights had the privilege of throwing their respective coxswains in the water. The 2V won its race in a time of 6:11.60 while the 3V crossed the line victorious in a time of 6:35.80.
The Crimson and Gray raced two four boats on Saturday. Both finished second with the varsity four reaching the finish line in 7:21.50 and the novice four turning in a time of 7:53.30.
WPI begins its postseason on Saturday, May 2nd, competing in the New England Championships on Lake Quinsigamond.
