Cambridge, MA -- WPI men's rowing competed this weekend at the iconic annual Head of the Charles Regatta. The Engineers saw their varsity eight place sixth in the collegiate eights on Sunday and the second varsity eight finish 23rd in the club eights on Saturday at the 51st annual event.
It marked the second consecutive sixth place showing for the varsity eight at the venerable event. The Crimson and Gray, who were third at the first checkpoint at Riverside, were just three seconds behind third place Williams (15:38.892) for a bronze medal, finishing in a time of 15:41.849. Hobart took first place with a time of 15:32.704, three and a half second clear of second place (15:37.273).
On Saturday the second varsity eight rallied from a 27th place time around the midway part of the race to just narrowly miss an automatic qualification for the 2016 event next October. The Boynton Hillers cross the finish in a time of 16:17.909.
WPI closes out the 2015 fall season on Saturday, October 31st competing at the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs, NY.
