Shenandoah, TX --- The 200-yard Medley Relay finished sixth at the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships being held at the CISD Natatorium.
Emory leads after the first day with 135 points while the Engineers are in ninth (26), just five points behind conference champion MIT.
The quartet of sophomore Jack Bauer (Cumberland, RI), senior Tim Petri (Eksjö, Sweden), junior Karim Elsayed (Cairo, Egypt) and senior Andrew Bauer (Cumberland, RI) clocked a 1:29.74 in the championship final to become the highest finishing relay in program history. Last year's 800-yard freestyle relay, which included the elder Bauer, owned the previous record with a seventh-place showing.
Earlier in the trials, Jack Bauer placed 31st in the 50-yard freestyle (20.94) and rebounded to help set a new 200-yard medley relay record. His 50-yard backstroke split of 22.57 shaved .30 seconds off the current standard while the team collaborated for a record-setting third-place trials time of 1:29.72.
