Worcester, MA --- Junior distance runner Kevin Jillson has been named an ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA) Academic All-American for track & field and cross county. Jillson received third team college division honors after earning first team All-District I accolades earlier this month.

Worcester, MA --- WPI sophomore thrower Jarrett Arredondo has been named to the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA) Academic All-District I Track & Field and Cross County College Division first team. Arrendondo sports an impressive 3.95 grade point average in Chemical Engineering. Arredondo was also named to the 2008 All-NEWMAC Academic team this past season.
Oshkosh, WI --- Jeff Baker finished 17th in the javelin on the final day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The freshman tossed the javelin a distance of 153-0 feet. The event was won in dramatic fashion by RIT's Stephen Burns, whose top throw of 207-10 was equaled by Concordia's (WI) Brock Solveson.
Oshkosh, WI --- Jarrett Arredondo placed 11th in the hammer throw on day two of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The sophomore's first throw of the day was his best, traveling 59.21 meters or 169-11 feet.
Worcester, MA --- WPI Mens Track and Field athletes Jeff Baker and Jarrett Arredondo have been selected to compete at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships hosted by Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Arredondo will be participating in the hammer throw on Friday at 6pm while Baker will be competing in the javelin at noon on Saturday.
Springfield, MA --- WPI sophomore Krista Baker finished third in the discus while senior Megan Murphy placed ninth in the 800 meter run on day two of the ECAC Division III Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon hosted by Springfield. The WPI Men ended the meet in 18th place with 14 total team points while the women took home 35th with 6 points.
Springfield, MA --- Jarrett Arredondo placed third in the hammer throw while Jeff Baker finished fourth in the javelin to help lead the WPI Men's Outdoor Track and Field team at day one of the ECAC Division III Championships on Thursday afternoon hosted by Springfield. Through Thursday's event the Engineers are in fourth place with 12 team points while SUNY Cortland is in first with 29.
Randalls Island, NY --- Select members of the mens track and field team competed at the New Balance Qualifying Challenge in New York. Although the meet included no team scoring, several WPI athletes turned in outstanding performances. Jarrett Arredondo led the way for the Engineers with a third place finish (169-3) in the hammer throw. Freshman Jeff Baker finished third in the javelin.
New London, CT --- Ben Roy (Buxton, ME) and Jeff Baker (Wallingford, CT) each earned second place finishes to help the Engineers to an eighth place finish at the three-day New England Division III Championships held at Coast Guard Academy. WPI finished with 32 points while Williams took home the overall title with 151 points. On the day, WPI picked up nine All-New England honors (top eight finishes).
New London, CT --- WPI Women's Track and Field finished 23rd overall at the New England Division III Championships hosted by Coast Guard Academy. Williams was the meet winner with 111 points. Stacy Rudolf brought home WPI's top finish, amassing 3191 points to place fifth in the seven event heptathlon. Teammate Amanda Gurnon finished behind Rudolf in tenth place with 2823 points.
Babson Park, MA --- The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its 2008 Men's Track & Field Academic All-Conference Team on Wednesday. WPI placed 14 student-athletes on the team this year, which is the second most in the conference behind MIT. WPI seniors honored include Pat Benson, Jon Bourque, Devin Auclair, Anthony DiOrio, Lou Grillon and Eugene Douglass.
Babson Park, MA --- Eight student-athletes from the WPI Women's Track and Field team were selected to the 2008 NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team. The Engineers had the third most athletes named in the league behind MIT and Mount Holyoke. Those honored include Catie Casey, Jessie Brasefield, Amanda Gurnon, Beth Hegarty, Stacy Rudolf, Liz Schreiber, Danielle Volpe and Megan Murphy.
Worcester, MA --- 21 WPI Track and Field athletes will represent head coach Mike Maceiko's squads at the Division III New England Championships at Coast Guard. The meet begins with selected events on Thursday and Friday with a full day slated on Saturday. Included is a list of athletes participating.
Northampton, MA --- Jeff Baker set a NEWMAC Championship record with his first place finish (198-6) and improved upon his NCAA provisional distance in the javelin to help WPI to a fourth place finish at today's NEWMAC Championships held at Smith College. Senior Chris McCann also won an event, taking home the crown in the 800 meters.
Northampton, MA --- Graduate student Meghan Murphy qualified for the ECAC Championships in the 800 meters with her fifth place finish at the NEWMAC Championships held Saturday at Smith. The Engineers finished seventh with 25 points while Wheaton was the overall meet winner. Krista Baker placed third in the discus and eighth in the shot put while Amanda Tichy took home fourth in the pole vault.
New London, CT --- Jeff Baker and Jarrett Arredondo each qualified provisionally for the NCAA Division III Championships in their respective events as the Engineers tallied 139 points to finish second overall at the 2008 Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College. Coast Guard was the meet champion with 243 points.
New London, CT --- Senior Amanda Tichy posted a height of 9-5.25 in the pole vault to take home a victory and help WPI to a fifth place finish at the 2008 Silfen Invitational. The Engineers scored a total of 64 points while host and meet winner Connecticut College amassed 164 points. Tichy's vault broke her old school record of 9-0.25 which was set just last Friday's in tri-meet with Springfield and Coast Guard.
Worcester, MA --- The 4x400 meter relay team of Jason Erickson, Thomas Adams, Kyle Coleman and David Boyle (3:33.61) highlighted eight first place finishes for Coast Guard this afternoon at WPI's Norcross track. The Bears scored a meet-high 174.5 points while Springfield registered 125 points and the Engineers tallied 90.5 points. First place finishers for WPI included Ben Roy, Kevin Jillson and Shaun Price.
Worcester, MA --- Nikki Hay won four events to help spark Springfield's first place finish at a tri-meet hosted by WPI this afternoon at Norcross Track. For the Engineers, Amanda Tichy (Pole Vault) and Liz Schreiber (400 meter hurdles) each broke a school record while Krista Baker won the discus with a toss of 115-1.
Worcester, MA --- Due to the forecasted heavy rain on Saturday, the track meet between WPI, Springfield and Coast Guard has been shifted from Saturday to Friday afternoon at Norcross Track at Alumni Field. Field events will now begin at noon while running events are slated to start at 1pm. Fans please be aware that classes are in session and there is a baseball game on Friday afternoon so parking will be at a premium.
Cambridge, MA -- Men's Track and Field combined for 95 points, the largest point total at the Engineers Cup for WPI since 1995, to finish third overall at the meet. Host MIT took home the overall title with 191 points. Senior Chris McCann had a stellar meet for the Crimson and Gray, qualifying for both the ECAC Championships and New England Division III Championships with his performances.

Krista Baker tallied WPI's lone victory of the day with a win in the discus and also finished fifth in the shotput. Stacy Rudolf jumped to second place in the high jump before running to fourth place in the 100 meter hurdles.

Saturday's meet marked the first track event held at the renamed and remodeled Merl Norcross Track, named in honor of the former legendary WPI track coach.

Cambridge, MA --- Select members of the WPI track and field team competed at the ECAC Championships at Harvard. The men's team faired well finishing 21st out of 58 scoring teams with 16 points. St. Lawrence was the meet winner with a total of 69 points. Senior distance runner Chris McCann was outstanding for the Engineers as he ran to a third place finish in the 1,000 meter run before taking home fifth in the mile.
Medford, MA --- Twelve different members of the WPI men's track and field team competed at the New England Division III Championships held at Tufts University. Chris McCann led the way for the Engineers with a sixth place finish in the one mile run before taking ninth place in the 1000 meter run. Ben Roy picked up WPI's top finish with a time of 7.89 and a fifth place finish in the 55 meter hurdles.
Northampton, MA --- WPI Women's Track and Field sent four athletes to the New England Division III Championships at Smith on Saturday. Stacy Rudolf grabbed the top finish of the day for the Engineers with her sixth place finish in the pentathlon. Rudolf earned 2536 events throughout the five event competition and garnered All-New England honors for her performance.
