2017-2018 marks the fourth consecutive season for Ignacio Arguello as an Assistant Coach of the WPI Track & Field program. Arguello ’s responsibilities include working with the pole vaulters.
In the 2015-2016 season, Arguello coached an All-New England Division III performance in both the men’s and women’s pole vault. In the 2014-2015 season, Ignacio coached an All-New England Division III performance in the indoor pole vault, and an All-New England All Division performance in the outdoor pole vault.
A graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2007, Arguello went on to coach high school track at public schools in Worcester, Hudson, and Wayland Massachusetts from 2008 to 2012. Ignacio is also a current member of Patriot Pole Vault Club in Westborough, MA, where he volunteer coaches, working with pole vault athletes in both high school and college. He has coached college-level pole vaulters from UMASS-Amherst, Northeastern, WPI, Kenyon, UMASS-Lowell, AIC, and Tufts University.
Arguello is USA Track & Field Level 1 Certified, and he has attended National Pole Vault Summits and Coaches Meetings in 2007 and 2008, where he assisted in a beginner’s level clinic and presented an MSTCA pole vault safety clinic. Arguello has coached 3 high school pole vaulters to qualify for the New England meet, 9 to qualify for the All-State meet, and 18+ to qualify for the divisional state meets.
