WORCESTER – Freshman Emily Wade's (Rochester, NY) goal in the 65th minute was the difference as St. Lawrence blanked host WPI, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference women's soccer matchup at Alumni Stadium.

With the win, the Saints improve to 3-0 as the Engineers, who were on the winning end of a 1-0 result courtesy of a late goal last night, move to 4-1.

Wade received a beautiful cross from Kaleigh White and sent it to the back of the net from 10-yards out. WPI's best chance came back in the 20th minute when junior Karina Larson (Storrs, CT) set the table for classmate Susannah Gray (York, ME); however, the attempt was pushed up and over the crossbar by the netminder.

Junior Hannah Merriam (Elmore, VT) paced all student-athletes with four shots as Wade finished with three. Freshman Megan Gannon (Williston, VT) came off the bench to take a pair. Rookie Samantha Allen (Ringwood, NJ) was called upon to make one save.

Junior Sophie Gomarlo (Swanzey, NH) was the only Engineer with multiple shots on the day while sophomore Gabi Hoops (Stonington, CT) stopped three shots in the effort.

WPI entertains Worcester State Tuesday at 4pm. St. Lawrence heads home tomorrow following an 11am contest at Roger Williams.
