  • Volleyball's Bakhtyari Earns Second CoSIDA Academic All-District Nod

    WORCESTER – Junior Azita Bakhtyari (Andover, MA) has been selected as a repeat CoSIDA Academic All-District I Volleyball team member, as voted upon by sports information directors in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
  • Seven Fall Student-Athletes Named to NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship Teams

    Westwood, MA --- WPI seniors Pavolas Christidis (Fairport, NY), Aaron Hartford (Norwell, MA), Kat Hurlock (Burlington, CT), Abby King (Fairfield, ME) and Lizzie Rooney (Harvard, MA) were named to NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship teams. Junior Ryan Wittenberg (Bedford, NH) and sophomore Ariana Rozen (Carver, MA) also made the list.

    WORCESTER – Junior Abby Bertics (La Jolla, CA) and senior Alli Davanzo (Saint Johns, FL) hit .424 and .429, respectively, as MIT defeated WPI 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-15) Saturday in the NEWMAC Women’s Volleyball season finale in Harrington Auditorium.
  • Regionally-Ranked Clark Bests Volleyball in Four Sets

    WORCESTER -- The Clark University women’s volleyball team ran to a 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23) victory over NEWMAC Park Ave. opponent WPI on Tuesday night in the Kneller Athletic Center. Marina Ramos (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) had a stellar night that included 21 kills and 22 digs to lift the Cougars to victory.
  • Kwatinetz, Bakhtyari Help Key Volleyball Split on Day Two of Hall of Fame Classic

    Amherst, MA --- Freshman Sarah Kwatinetz (Seattle, WA) totaled 25 kills as the WPI volleyball split a pair of matches Saturday at the Hall of Fame Classic. The Engineers (11-16) defeated regionally-ranked Bowdoin (13-8) 3-2 and were upended by co-host Amherst (14-9) 3-1.
  • Mullins and Daigle Deliver in Volleyball’s Hall of Fame Classic Opener

    Northampton, MA --- Sophomore Colleen Mullins (Andover, MA) set a new career-high in kills for the second time in as many matches, this time in a 3-1 WPI women’s volleyball victory over Trinity Friday night in the Hall of Fame Classic at Smith’s Ainsworth Gymnasium.

    WORCESTER – Junior Cathryn MacGregor (North Andover, MA), freshman Julia Palomba (San Carlos, CA) and sophomore Becca Houghton (Emmaus, PA) handed in double-doubles as Wheaton came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat host WPI 3-2 (13-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-15, 15-8) in a NEWMAC Women’s Volleyball contest Thursday night in Harrington Auditorium.

    Keene, NH --- Senior Brooke Klepper (Miami Beach, FL) had 10 kills against Western Connecticut as junior Casey Hunt (Granby, CT), and the freshman duo of Sarah Kwatinetz (Seattle, WA) and Amanda Wetmore (Hudson, NH), totaled 42 digs against Keene State as Volleyball won a pair of non-conference matches Saturday afternoon in Spaulding Gym.

    Newport, RI --- Junior Casey Hunt (Granby, CT) tallied a match-best 15 kills, including two down the stretch, to go along with 11 digs as WPI snapped a three-game skid with a 3-0 triumph at Salve Regina in a non-conference volleyball matchup Thursday night in the Rodgers Recreation Center, which recently welcomed the Celtics mini-camp.

    WORCESTER – All-Tournament Team selection junior Azita Bakhtyari (Andover, MA) recorded a pair of double-doubles while WPI was on the wrong side of a pair of five-set matches Saturday as part of the Worcester City Tournament, hosted by Worcester State. The Engineers fell 26-24, 20-25, 25-19, 18-28, 7-15 to the Lancers and 19-25, 26-28, 25-18, 25-23, 13-15 to the Fighting Scots.
  • Volleyball Upended in Five-Set Season Opener Versus Gordon

    WORCESTER – Gordon sophomore Amanda Snyder (San Jose, CA) and junior Mackenzie Hinds (Higganum, CT) each handed in a kill-dig double-double while freshman Ashlyn Gergins (Murrieta, CA) posted an assist-dig double-double in a five set victory at host WPI Friday evening in a non-conference women’s volleyball matchup in Harrington Auditorium. The Engineers claimed the first two sets 25-19 and 25-23 as the Fighting Scots took the last three 25-21, 26-24 and 15-12.
  • Volleyball Seventh in NEWMAC Preseason Coaches Poll

    WESTWOOD, Mass. – After an exciting 2016 NEWMAC Volleyball season that saw three teams earn spots in the NCAA Championship tournament the NEWMAC is looking forward to the 2017 season. After claiming the NEWMAC crown last November, MIT has been tabbed as the preseason favorites with eight first place votes. With their Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA tournament, Springfield earned the No. 2 slot with one first place vote.
