Women's XC Sets Record as Both Teams Cited by USTFCCCA; Scott Earns Fourth Solo Nod

New Orleans, LA --- Paced by four-time honoree senior Austin Scott (Waddington, NY) a total of five WPI student-athletes were tabbed U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic in the sport of cross country. The men's and women's programs were also recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic teams for the seventh-consecutive year.

For a team to be considered, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet and have a minimum team GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. The women's team boasted a record 3.52 GPA which was in a nine-way tie for 72nd out of 217 programs to make the list. The men, meanwhile, touted a 3.41 GPA to tie for 54th out of 174 teams.

In order to be named USTFCCA All-Academic, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) and finish in the top-25 percent at their respective regional. Scott placed 20th while junior Justin Trott (North Hampton, NH), a repeat selection, was 55th and classmate Tristam Winship (Bedford, NH) came home 75th. Freshman Avery Ingegneri (Warwick, RI) was four spots behind in 79th and junior Jason Bugarin (Fitchburg, MA) crossed the finish line 94th.
