  • WPI Men Second, Women Third in NEWMAC President Cup Standings

    Westwood, MA --- For the third consecutive year WPI finished second in the Men’s NEWMAC Presidents Cup standings while the women placed third, as announced at the conference's annual meetings by WPI President Laurie Leshin along with NEWMAC President and WPI Director of Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics Dana L. Harmon.
  • WPI Honors 11 Major Award Winners During Annual Athletic Banquet

    WORCESTER – The WPI athletic department recently honored all of its 20 varsity teams which encompasses over 600 student-athletes at its annual awards banquet. During the festivities, 11 student-athletes were presented with major awards. These accolades highlight some of the best varsity student-athletes at WPI who excel both in the classroom and in their respective sports.
  • Strangio and Packard Named to Women's XC/T&F Academic All-District Team

    WORCESTER – WPI senior Lea Strangio (Watertown, MA) earned a third Google Cloud Academic All-District® I Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Team honor, as selected by CoSIDA. Sophomore Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) was also recognized by the sports information directors in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont. The chemical engineering majors are now on the ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

  • Newman Nets Third USTFCCCA Cross Country Academic Nod, Teams Boast Eighth In-a-Row

    New Orleans, LA --- Senior Emily Newman (Easton, MA) earned a third USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Academic Team nod while a total of eight WPI student-athletes also appeared on the scrolls for their work inside the classroom and on the regional championship course. Collectively, the men and women were feted for the eighth consecutive year.
  • Seven Fall Student-Athletes Named to NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship Teams

    Westwood, MA --- WPI seniors Pavolas Christidis (Fairport, NY), Aaron Hartford (Norwell, MA), Kat Hurlock (Burlington, CT), Abby King (Fairfield, ME) and Lizzie Rooney (Harvard, MA) were named to NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship teams. Junior Ryan Wittenberg (Bedford, NH) and sophomore Ariana Rozen (Carver, MA) also made the list.

    Gorham, ME --- Senior Tristam Winship (Bedford, NH) ran to a top 50 finish to guide WPI to a 13th-place showing at the NCAA Division III New England Cross Country Championships hosted by Southern Maine at the Gorham Country Club.
  • Women’s Cross Country Ties Program Record With 10th-Place Finish at D3 New Englands

    Gorham, ME --- Sophomore Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) posted an All-Region performance to lead WPI to a program-best 10th-place finish at the NCAA Division III New England Championships hosted by Southern Maine at the Gorham Country Club on Saturday. The team placing matches the 10th-place, 341 point effort in 1989.

  • Triple Take: WPI Men’s Cross Country, Again, Perfect at Worcester City Meet

    Paxton, MA --- The WPI men’s cross country team was perfect at the Worcester City Meet, hosted by Worcester State at Moore State Park, for the third consecutive year. Sophomore Avery Ingegneri (Warwick, RI) was the individual champion while senior Tristam Winship (Bedford, NH) earned the Brian Savilonis Award as the top finishing senior at the 51st edition of the event.

    WESTWOOD, Mass. – The NEWMAC is looking forward to the 2017 Men's Cross Country season after some great performances shown in 2016. Picking up their 19th consecutive conference crown at the league championships last fall, MIT has been tabbed as the preseason favorites with seven first place votes. After placing second last season, WPI earned the No. 2 nod with one first place vote.

    WESTWOOD, Mass. – The NEWMAC is looking forward to the 2017 Women's Cross Country season after great performances in 2016. After claiming the programs 10 consecutive conference crown last year MIT has been named the preseason favorites with 10 first place votes while WPI follows being slated at No. 2.
  • Maceiko to Step Aside as Cross Country Coach; Chabot to Assume Head Coaching Role

    WORCESTER – WPI’s Mike Maceiko announced recently that he is stepping away as head coach of the Engineer Cross Country programs. Director of Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics Dana L. Harmon revealed that head track & field coach Brian Chabot will assume cross country head coaching duties while Miles Ketchum, who was previously elevated to full time status, will be the head sprints & hurdles coach and coordinator of track & field.
