Taylor Kapsimalis

WORCESTER -- WPI Director of Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics Dana L. Harmon and Head Athletic Trainer Mike DeSavage announced recently that Taylor Kapsimalis has joined the Athletic Training staff. The added position increases the team to four heading into the 2018-19 preseason.

"The WPI Sports Medicine department is proud to welcome Taylor Kapsimalis as our newest staff member," said DeSavage. "We are looking forward to Taylor's knowledge and energy in providing health care of our 20 varsity athletic teams."

Kapsimalis comes to WPI from Merrimack after recently completing her master's degree in community health education. There, she spent the year as a graduate fellow athletic trainer at Haverhill High School and also mentored students in Merrimack's undergraduate athletic training program. Kapsimalis also provided home game coverage for the Junior Valley Warriors EJHL teams.

"I'm excited to be joining the WPI Athletics and Sports Medicine team this year," said Kapsimalis. "I have always admired the athletes at WPI because they excel not only in athletics, but also in academics and collaborative efforts to improve their greater community. I would like to thank the administrators, coaches, student-athletes, and other WPI community members for providing me this opportunity to extend my work as an athletic trainer into the collegiate setting."

Prior to her time with the Hillies, Kapsimalis completed her bachelors of science in athletic training at Quinnipiac. As an undergraduate student, she also gained experience working with teams at Quinnipiac, Yale, and Bridgeport.

Kapsimalis, a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) is also a two-time Boston Marathon medical volunteer (2017 & 2018).
