WPI Athletics & Victory Academy Partner to Develop Emerging Leaders

NASHUA, NH – Last month, the Victory Academy and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) kicked off a partnership together to provide student-athletes with leadership training for a select group of emerging leaders across all 18 Division 3 sports.  
 
WPI offers their student-athletes holistic opportunities to develop as an individual and contribute to team success in intercollegiate athletics.WPI Athleticsis committed to promoting an appreciation for lifelong wellness, to fostering growth in leadership, encouraging the pursuit of excellence, and enhancing the overall experience for our students. Through this partnership with Victory Academy, the WPI Athletic Department is showing their commitment to their mission of providing student-athletes with development opportunities to succeed in school, athletics and in their futures.
 
The academy focused on mental toughness and covered a range of impactful lessons around self-awareness, self-management and situational awareness. The student-athletes were given tools and strategies to develop their emotional intelligence, boost confidence, set goals, and establish daily winning habits. 
 
Cherise Galasso, Associate Director of Athletics and Head Women's Basketball Coach has been a champion for the program. "At WPI, our student-athletes are always in pursuit of information that will make them better personally, athletically and academically. The Victory Academy aligns well with our holistic vision to equip our student-athletes with the tools they need to be successful in athletics and in the classroom. The program was a valuable development opportunity for our emerging leaders."  

Kristen Kjellman Marshall, Managing Partner at velocityHUB and Executive Director of the Victory Academy, was pleased to lead the program. "The WPI student-athletes were exceptional participants. They were focused, attentive and eager to learn. The level of concentration and collaboration was exceptional. It's evident that they are driven to succeed at everything they do and want to develop as students, athletes and leaders."

The Victory Academy has witnessed the impact of its programs across some of the world's leading academic institutions such as Brown University, the College of Holy Cross, Babson College, Harvard University, Providence College, Middlebury College, Tufts University and Merrimack College. Over 40 institutions have endorsed Victory programs for their students, including 50% of the NESCAC & Ivy Leagues. Over 25,000 students and emerging leaders have been inspired to reach their potential through Victory Academy training.
