Morgan R. Rees '61
Title: Class of 1984

Morgan "Mo" Rees, your magnificent achievements and spirited dedication earn you a place among the esteemed members of the WPI athletic community. A three-sport captain and winner of 11 varsity letters, your leadership and knowledge helped foster the growth and development of the WPI wrestling program.

A four-year letterman, you brought extensive wrestling insight and experience to WPI. As an undergraduate, you served in the capacity of a player-coach and your tutelage helped spawn and develop a major athletic program at WPI. On the mat, your wrestling attributes were evident. You became WPI's first All-New England wrestler in 1959 and New England champion in 1961, and you concluded your career with an enviable 23-3 dual meet record.

The strength as will you displayed in wrestling permeated throughout your entire athletic career. You earned four letters in football and co-captained the 1960 team, during which you tied for the team leadership in scoring. As an offensive and defensive end, your two-way play and versatility made you an instrumental member of the squad. In the spring your talents in track and field, where you were an outstanding high hurdler, completed your three-sport mastery.

Since graduation, your active participation in the wrestling program helped continue its development and has enabled it to improve and expand into today's leadership position in New England.

"Mo" Rees, tonight we honor you for your extraordinary athletic achievements and leadership ability with your induction into the WPI Athletic Hall of Fame.
