|Title:||Class of 1991|
Chiara Whalen Bubin, through your great work ethic and unsurpassed skill you are recognized as one of WPI's top women basketball players.
During your four years as a starter you posted impressive statistics. You are the first women player in Institute history to surpass the 1,000-point and 1,000-rebound plateau in a career. Your 454 attempted free throws and 12.3 rebounding average still stand as WPI career records.
Your efforts did not go unnoticed. You were choosen for second-team All-America, Kodak All-Northeast region, All-New England and ECAC honrs following the 1983-84 season, during which you helped lead the Engineers to an ECAC championship and a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament.
Your Athletic excellence was not restricted to the basketball court. You were also a member of the WPI crew team that captured four city championships and twice placed in the top five in New England.
Chiara Whalen Bubin, it is with great pleasure that we recognize your admirable contributions to WPI athletics by inducting you tonight into the WPI Athletic Hall of Fame.
