|Title:||Class of 1991|
George Abdow, your outstanding versatility on the football field allowed you to become one of the top two-way grid performers ever to play at WPI. Your tremendous skill and leadership also placed you as captain of the golf team during your senior season.
While starting four years at running back and alternating at blocking back and defensive back for WPI, you led the Engineers to many exciting football victories. Your 55-yard touchdown run and second half interception against Coast Guard during the 1950 season elevated WPI to a 6-0 victory. You also own the distinction of holding on the extra point attempts in all three one-point victories over the University of Massachusetts between 1949 and 1951.
Your Golf swing ranked you among the top golfers in New England during your final year as you qualified for the New England Intercollegiate Golf Championship.
The same effort you put forth in the athletic arena has continued with your professional career, making you a leader in the business world.
George Abdow, it is with great pleasure that we honor you tonight for your outstanding accomplishments in sports by inducting you into the WPI Athletic Hall of Fame.
