Baseball Downed by Husson at RussMatt Central Florida Invitational

Auburndale, FL --- Sean Kelly's (Shrewsbury, MA) hit early tied the game and a walk helped keep WPI close as the Engineers dropped a 5-3 decision to Husson on Tuesday in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. WPI dips to 2-3, while the Eagles improve to 3-1.

Husson lit up the scoreboard first on a double. WPI would tie the game in the second on a Kelly hit. The Eagles put up four unearned runs in the top of the fourth for the 5-1 lead.

The Engineers chipped away at the lead in the fifth as Kelley walked and rounded the bases on a pair of singles by David Trujillo (Sutton, MA) and Alex Posch (Hopedale, MA).

In the next inning, WPI picked up another run when Nick Bean (Middleboro, MA) scored on a Bryan Watkins (Belmont, MA) ground out.

Alex Julian (Sterling, MA) suffers the loss as he struck out seven and allowed one earned run in six innings.

WPI will enjoy an off-day tomorrow and is back on the diamond Thursday morning to face Thomas More.
