The Monks put up three runs in the second on a 2-RBI double down the right field line and later on an infield miscue. St. Joseph's added another in the third courtesy of a solo homer down the line.
Senior Alex Venditti (Newton, MA) plated the first Engineer run of the season when he was chased home on a Capuano single up the middle in the fourth. WPI tacked on two more in the fifth on an RBI triple by senior Vinny D'Ambrosio (Mahopac, NY), who eventually came home on a Monk miscue to make it a one-run game.
St. Joseph's pulled away with two more in the fifth courtesy of a run-producing single and a wild pitch.
