BOSTON -- WPI senior Nick Comei (Haverhill, MA) has been selected as the NEWMAC Baseball Player of the Week. It marks the second time in three weeks the senior shortstop has received the honor. Emerson's Henry Schwartz (Queens, NY) shared top billing Monday with Comei as the junior was named the conference's Pitcher of the Week.
Comei finished with a slash line of .524/1.095/.583 with eight RBI and seven extra base hits in the Engineers' 4-1 week. He began with a trio of multi-hit games, highlighted by a 5-for-5 performance with a home run, two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored versus Nichols. In the field, Comei made one error in 32 total chances, but made up for it as a part of a pair of double plays.
The senior captain was also drew recognition as NEWMAC Player of the Week, as well as being named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week, two weeks ago.
Weather permitting, WPI is scheduled to entertain Emerson Tuesday at the New England Baseball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30pm.
