Tropeano and Patterson Represent Baseball on NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team

Westwood, MA --- Junior Ryan Tropeano (Pembroke, MA) and sophomore Tyrone Patterson (Upper Marlboro, MD) were selected as NEWMAC Baseball All-Conference second team honorees following the 2018 campaign. Senior Evan Lacroix (Methuen, MA), meanwhile, was named as the Engineers representative on the NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship team.

Tropeano was second in hits (60), third in total bases (84) and stolen bases (20), fourth in batting average (.390), and fifth in home runs within the NEWMAC. He enjoyed multiple hits in nine conference games featuring eight in the Coast Guard series and a season-best four in the opener vs the Bears. Tropeano's 13-game hitting streak (March 24-April 14) included a six-game multi-hit streak (March 27-April 7).

Patterson was second in sacrifice flies (5), tied for 21st in D3, among conference peers. He drove in a team-best 32 RBI, was second on the squad with 48 hits, and one of two Engineers to register multiple triples. Patterson boasted multiple hits in 16 games, including seven in conference play. His five game multi-hit streak from March 24-April 5 featured four hits versus Emerson and four at Babson.

Baseball (13-22) concluded the 2018 season with a pair of wins for 13th-year head coach Mike Callahan.
