WORCESTER -- Junior Ryan Tropeano (Pembroke, MA) has been named second team All-New England by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). It is the second straight all-region nod for the outfielder as he was honored as a first team selection following the 2017 campaign.
Tropeano, also an All-NEWMAC selectee, was second in the conference in batting average (.390), third in stolen bases (20), fourth in hits (60) and total bases (84) and sixth in home runs (5). The co-captain stroked multiple hits in 21 contests this featuring eight in the Coast Guard series and a season-best four in the opener vs the Bears. Tropeano's 13-game hitting streak (March 24-April 14) included a six-game multi-hit streak (March 27-April 7).
Baseball (13-22) concluded the 2018 season with a pair of wins for 13th-year head coach Mike Callahan. It marked the fourth straight year the Engineers have sported an All-New England performer.
