  • Five WPI Student-Athletes Named to NEWMAC Spring All-Sportsmanship Teams

    Westwood, MA --- Women’s Rowing senior Eva Barinelli (Tewskbury, MA), Women’s Track & Field senior Carley Dykstra (Andover, NJ), Baseball senior Doug Rives (Bethany, CT), Men’s Track & Field junior Kevin O’Driscoll (Norwell, MA) and Softball sophomore Brittany Bolster (North Kingstown, RI) were named to their respective sport’s NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship team following the spring season.

    WORCESTER – WPI senior Ryan Tropeano (Pembroke, MA) has repeated as a Google Cloud Baseball Academic All-District honoree as voted on by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. The outfielder now moves on to the ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
  • Larson and Patterson Collect NEWMAC Baseball All-Conference Accolades

    Westwood, MA --- WPI juniors David Larson and Tyrone Patterson were named to the NEWMAC Baseball All-Conference first and second team respectively, following a vote by the conference head coaches following the regular season. Senior Doug Rives was selected as the Engineers NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship team honoree.

    Northboro, MA --- Sophomore Tyler Bell (Abington, MA) pitched a complete-game three-hit shutout while junior Sean Harrington (Walpole, MA) batted 2-for-3 with a three-run homer as third-seeded, and nationally-ranked Babson ousted second-seeded WPI from the 2019 NEWMAC Baseball Championship with a 7-0 win in Game 6 Monday morning at the New England Baseball Complex.

    Northboro, MA --- Junior David Larson (Port Tobacco, MD) went 2-for-4 including a three-run home run and struck out 11 batters as second-seeded WPI knocked off third-seeded, and nationally-ranked, Babson, 5-1, in Game 3 of the NEWMAC Baseball Championship Friday at the New England Baseball Complex.

  • Baseball and Springfield Split 29 Inning Marathon; WPI Reclaims NEWMAC West Title

    Springfield, MA --- David Larson (Port Tobacco, MD) and Dominic Fusco (North Haven, CT) teamed up to allow just one run in 18 innings on the mound and Benjamin Chaffee (Franklin, MA) drove in the winning run by getting hit by pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the 18th as WPI won the NEWMAC West Division title with a marathon 2-1 victory over host Springfield in the first game of a NEWMAC baseball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
  • Gallagher and Herlands Highlight Baseball’s Mid-Week NEWMAC Setback at MIT

    Cambridge, MA --- Junior Thomas Allison (Kingwood, TX) delivered two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored as MIT defeated visiting WPI, 8-4, in a NEWMAC baseball matchup Wednesday afternoon.

    Northboro, MA --- Freshman Michael Fraser (Mashpee, MA) batted 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a home run, and six RBI, while junior David Larson’s (Port Tobacco, MD) day included striking out six batters as WPI defeated visiting Springfield, 14-4, Friday afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex.

    Cambridge, MA --- MIT junior Thomas Allison (Kingwood, TX) clubbed a three-run homerun in the bottom of the ninth to lift the host Engineers past WPI, 7-6, in a NEWMAC baseball game Wednesday afternoon at Fran O'Brien Field.

    Northboro, MA --- Junior Nick Raposo (Johnston, RI) capped an eight-run Wheaton outburst in the top of the 11th as the Lyons outlasted host WPI, 16-14, Tuesday afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex.
  • Howard, Larson Clutch Hits Give Baseball Season Sweep Over Coast Guard

    Northboro, MA – After rallying to beat Coast Guard in extra innings on the road on Friday night, WPI baseball completed a regular season sweep of the Bears with a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon, 9-3 and 5-1, out at New England Baseball Complex.

    New London, CT --- Sophomore Jordan DeDonato (Danvers, MA) for both RBI in the first nine innings while junior David Larson (Port Tobacco, MD) snapped a 2-2 tie in the top of the 14th as WPI went on to defeat Coast Guard, 6-2, in a NEWMAC baseball matchup Friday afternoon. Junior Kyle Wood (Hauppauge, NY), meanwhile, struck out eight and walked a pair in six hitless innings.

    Norton, MA --- George Mulcahey collected two hits and scored three times and John Mikosz struck out 10 in seven innings of work as nationally-ranked Wheaton defeated visiting WPI 11-1 in a NEWMAC baseball contest played Tuesday afternoon.

    WORCESTER – Senior Cal Slepkow (Rehoboth, MA) struck out five in a complete-game victory while junior Dylan Horn (Sterling, CT) keyed a four-run second inning as host Clark defeated WPI, 4-1, in a NEWMAC baseball game Friday afternoon at Granger Field.

    Amherst, MA --- Sophomores Kai Terada-Herzer (Honolulu, HI) and Stephen Burke (Los Angeles, CA) each collected a pair of hits and totaled six RBI as the Amherst baseball team defeated visiting WPI, 10-7, Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Field.

    Northboro, MA --- Senior Nicholas Browne (Mount Laurel, NJ) hit a grand slam as sophomore Jordy Allard (Woodstock, VT) and the rest of the nationally-ranked Babson baseball team completed the season sweep of WPI with an 8-6 victory Tuesday afternoon at the NEBC.

    Northboro, MA --- Senior Josh Herlands (Glastonbury, CT) drove in three runs, including the final two, in game one and classmate Austin Lindner (Princeton Jct., NJ) was 2-for-2 with two walks, a home run, three RBI and a run scored in game two as the WPI baseball team took a NEWMAC doubleheader with scores of 7-5 and 9-4 over vising Emerson Saturday at the New England Baseball Complex.
  • Gallagher Garners Sue Chapman MVP Honors as Baseball Wins Annual Game vs Lancers

    Northboro, MA --- Senior Steven Gallagher (Coventry, RI) was named the inaugural Sue Chapman MVP in the annual baseball game between WPI and Worcester State. The Engineers won the non-conference contest by a count of 12-8 at the New England Baseball Complex.
  • Lindner and Patterson Shine as Nationally-Ranked Babson Bests Baseball in NEWMAC Opener

    Babson Park, MA --- Senior Connor Gill (Sterling, MA) batted 3-for-5 with a stolen base, an RBI and two runs scored and sophomore Jordy Allard (Woodstock, VT) struck out seven as Babson defeated visiting WPI, 10-2, in a NEWMAC baseball game Tuesday afternoon at Govoni Field.
  • Baseball and Plymouth State Split Saturday Non-Conference Doubleheader

    Northboro, MA --- Plymouth State won game one, 14-9, and WPI took game two, 19-10, as the squads split a non-conference doubleheader at the New England Baseball Complex. The Engineers move to 13-4 and the Panthers are now 6-5 on the season.

    Northboro, MA --- Junior Tyrone Patterson (Upper Marlboro, MD) notched what proved to be the game-winning RBI as WPI defeated visiting Gordon, 10-6, in a non-conference baseball game played Tuesday at the New England Baseball Complex.
  • Baseball Splits Marathon Twinbill with NEC to Conclude Three-Game Series

    Northboro, MA --- Senior Austin Lindner (Princeton Jct., NJ), sophomore Jordan DeDonato (Danvers, MA) and freshman Michael Fraser (Mashpee, MA) all batted .500 and combined for eight RBI while senior Steven Gallagher (Coventry, RI) and Junior Tyrone Patterson (Upper Marlboro, MD) each accumulated five hits, including eight for extra bases, as WPI split a baseball twinbill with New England College Saturday at the New England Baseball Complex. The Engineers (11-3) won the first part of the seven-plus hour marathon 22-21 and the Pilgrims (10-4) return to Henniker with a 6-5 victory in the nightcap.
  • Larson and Patterson Go Yard to Open Baseball’s Three-Game Series with NEC

    Northboro, MA --- Junior David Larson (Port Tobacco, MD) struck out nine and homered in a 5-1 WPI victory over New England College Friday afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex. The squads, who began the day at 9-2, close out a three-game series tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
  • Gallagher and DeDonato Combine for Six Hits as Brandeis Spoils Baseball’s Home Opener
    March 14, 2019
    Northboro, MA --- Sophomore Alex Parrott (Nashua, NH) batted 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and six RBI, and junior Greg Tobin (Medway, MA) allowed only one earned run on six hits with five strikeouts and four walks in 6 2/3, to lead Brandeis to a 10-6 victory over host WPI in a non-conference baseball game Thursday afternoon. It was the Engineers home opener (9-2) while all five of the Judges’ (4-1) games thus far this season have been played at the New England Baseball Complex.
