WORCESTER – WPI junior David Larson (Port Tobacco, MD) garnered a handful of All-New England baseball accolades, as recently announced by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA), in conjunction with the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), and by D3baseball.com.
The regional coaches placed Larson on the first team while D3baseball.com voters named him to the second team. He had been previously recognized as a NEWMAC All-Conference first team selection.
Larson is 11th in slugging percentage (.768), home runs per game (0.32) and doubles per game (0.50) while ranking 16th in home runs (12) and 19th in doubles (19) in Division III through the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament. On the mound, the junior led the NEWMAC with 68 strikeouts and third in wins (6) on the season. After going 10 innings in a critical 18-inning victory at Springfield on the final day of the regular season, Larson struck out 11 in the Engineers NEWMAC tournament opening win versus Babson, one of the eight teams competing in the double-elimination finals this upcoming weekend in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The NEWMAC West Division champions posted a 23-16 record overall and 8-9 versus all conference teams.
