• Football to Host Skills Camp on Sunday July 31st

    Worcester, MA --- The WPI football program will be hosting player skill clinics for students in eight grade and up on Sunday, July 31st. The session will go from noon to 5pm. Registration will begin promptly at 12:00 pm at the main entrance to the stadium. Registration is $50 per person with a team discount of $40 each for 10 or more players from the same team during Pre-Registration.

  • Football to Host Alumni Golf Tournament on June 4th

    Worcester, MA --- The WPI Football Alumni Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 4 at the Heritage Country Club in Charlton, MA at 1:00pm. The event will be a shot-gun start featuring prizes, raffles, and a dinner in the evening. Registration begins at 12:30pm.
  • MILFORD PATCH: Where Are They Now: Michael Oliveri

    Michael Oliveri graduated in 2006 from Milford High School where he was a three sport athlete for the Scarlet Hawks playing baseball, basketball and football. Oliveri was a tremendous athlete during his four years at Milford High, and it showed, as he captained all three varsity teams his senior year and helped bring a Super Bowl victory to the Hawks. Oliveri also took part in the school’s National Honor Society. When it came time to choose a college, Oliveri originally thought about playing baseball up at school until the football coaches from WPI changed his mind, and influenced him to play football for the Engineers.
  • Football to Host Coaches Clinic on Tuesday, February 22nd

    Worcester, MA --- The WPI football program will be hosting a coaches clinic on Tuesday, February 22nd. The event held from 8:30am to 2pm in the Odeum of the WPI Campus Center will feature head coach Chris Robertson, offensive line coach and running game coordinator Dave Kaizer and special teams coordinator Mike Bruno, as well as coaches from Fordham, Anna Maria, Washington and Lee and Amherst. The cost of the clinic is just $10 per coach.

  • Liberty League Names 22 WPI Football Players to All-Academic Team

    Worcester, MA --- For the first time ever, WPI’s Football team placed a conference-best 22 student-athletes on the Liberty League All-Academic team with Aaron Champagne leading the way with his third nod. Juniors Andrew Baker, Matt Cyr, Trevor Dunne, Ernie Mello, Dan Nyren, Dan Sullivan and Mohamed Yatim each pick up their second conference award in as many years.
  • Eight Football Players Honored by the Worcester Area Football Association

    Worcester, MA --- Ernie Mello was named to the 2010 Worcester Area Football Association’s 20th Annual All-Star team as a running back and a return specialist. In all, eight Engineers were selected for the team were selected for the team comprised of standouts from WPI, Worcester St, Fitchburg St, Becker, Nichols, Anna Maria, Assumption and Holy Cross.
  • Lapierre Named to D3football.com All-Region Team

    Minneapolis, MN --- WPI senior football offensive lineman Tyler Lapierre was selected today to the D3football.com All-Region team. The guard earned a spot on the second team and is one of just six Liberty League players of the 77 student-athletes honored in the East region. It marks the fourth time an Engineer has been recognized All-East by D3football.com, who had named All-Region players for the past six years.
  • Champagne Grabs Second Straight Academic All-America Accolade

    Worcester, MA --- For the second year in a row, WPI’s Aaron Champagne has been named an ESPN/Co-SIDA Academic All-America for football by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The senior running back took home second team national honors in the College Division, which is comprised of NCAA Division II and III, NAIA and junior college programs, for the second consecutive season.
  • Lapierre Tabbed to New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England Team

    Boston, MA --- WPI offensive tackle Tyler Lapierre was named today to the Division II/III All-New England Football team as voted on by the New England Football Writers. Lapierre was one of 31 players representing 21 teams in the region, and was the only member of the Engineers selected to the team. The senior was honored earlier this week as a first team All-Liberty League player.

    Canton, NY --- Senior Tyler Lapierre highlighted seven different WPI football players to earn All-Liberty League accolades on Tuesday by being named to the conference’s first team.     Canton, NY --- The St. Lawrence University football team were crowned the 2010 Liberty League champions for the first time in the program's history with a 27-7 win over WPI on Saturday afternoon on Weeks Field at Leckonby Stadium in Canton, NY. The Engineers, who scored their lone touchdown on a 12-yard TD scamper by Aaron Champagne, end the season 3-7.

    WPI senior outside linebacker Brendan Gove will play in his final college game tomorrow at St. Lawrence. Then, it will be on to bigger things for the former Wachusett Regional starter. Gove will graduate May 13 with his degree in mechanical engineering. He's getting married May 29. The lucky lady is Brittney Blair, a Worcester State senior.

    Worcester, MA -- Sophomore linebacker Aaron Inch recorded a game-best 14 tackles, forced a fumble and grabbed a late interception to help Susquehanna defeat host WPI 14-7 on a crisp autumn Saturday afternoon. With the non-conference win, the Crusaders snap a seven-game losing streak and end their season with a 2-8 record. WPI dips to 3-6 overall and heads to St. Lawrence next week for its season finale.

    Worcester, MA --- For the third straight year, WPI running back Aaron Champagne has been named to the ESPN Academic All-District I first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA). By being named first team, Champagne advances to the national ballot where he earned second team All-America honors a season ago.

    The Hobart football team used a strong showing by its defense and a balance attack by its offense to post a 38-13 Liberty League victory over WPI on Boswell Field at the Caird Center for Sports and Recreation. Johny Antonopoulos tossed WPI touchdown passes to Trevor Dunne and Nick Bean. Bean posted career-highs of 11 catches for 107 yards.

    Canton, NY --- WPI running back Ernie Mello has been named Liberty League Co-Special Teams Performer of the Week for games played on Saturday, October 23rd. Mello returned a blocked punt for a touchdown, and returned three kickoffs for 98 yards. Mello added a game-high 106 yards of rushing, including a 39-yard third quarter touchdown.

Junior Ernie Mello scored on a blocked punt return and a 39-yard touchdown run for the Engineers.

Ernie Mello paced the Engineer running attack with 70 yards on 13 carries while Brendan Gove backboned the defensive effort with 10 stops, including nine solo tackles.
