Eccher Scores Liberty League Football Special Teams Performer of the Week Accolades

Troy, NY --- Senior Brandon Eccher (Franklin, MA) has been tabbed as the Liberty League Football Special Teams Performer of the Week while classmate Brian Murtagh (Wayland, MA) earned a spot on this week's honor roll.

Eccher returned a third quarter punt for a touchdown to fuel the Engineers come-from-behind victory over Union Saturday. He finished with 83 yards on three returns and added 43 yards on five receptions for the offense. Eccher is currently second in the league in receiving touchdowns (5) and in average yards per punt returns (11.9).

Murtagh tied his season-high of 15 tackles (14 solo), including a season-best four for-loss this past Saturday. Through five weeks, Murtagh leads the league in  tackles (68), solo tackles (42) and assisted tackles (26), in addition to sharing the top spot with teammate Luca Cerasani with nine tackles for-loss and eight solo.

Hobart junior QB Shane Sweeney (Phelps, NY) was the offensive performer of the week as teammate Jedh Downey (Norwood, NJ) took home rookie of the week honors and St. Lawrence senior Chryon Brown-Wallace (Rochester, NY) pocketed defensive performer of the week accolades.

Football (4-1, 1-1 Liberty League) hosts Merchant Marine (2-2, 1-1 LL) at 1pm Saturday as part of Homecoming Weekend.
