WPI Captures NEWMAC Men’s Presidents Cup for the Second Time
June 18, 2020Westwood, MA --- For the second time in the eight-year history of the award, WPI has claimed the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Presidents Cup, as announced at the conference’s annual meetings earlier this month. The Crimson and Gray also took home the honor after the 2014-15 academic year and had placed second in all four years in between the two victories. -
Football Sees 15 Selected to the 2020 Hampshire Honor Society
April 21, 2020WORCESTER -- 15 WPI football senior student-athletes were among the 1,471 student-athletes named to the Hampshire Honor Society by the National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Hall of Fame for academic achievement throughout their collegiate careers. -

McAllen and Robertson Receive Top Billing in Worcester Area Football All-Stars
December 16, 2019WORCESTER --- WPI running back Sean McAllen was named the Worcester Area Football Association’s Offensive Player of the Year for the second time in three years and head coach Chris Robertson garnered Coach of the Year honors for the first time as 15 different players were tabbed as all-stars. -
Robertson Draws Division II/III Coach of the Year Honor from New England Football Writers

Robertson received the award Thursday night at a sold out banquet at Rosaria Restaurant and Function Facility in Saugus, MA. -
Duh Earns CoSIDA Division III Football Academic All-America Distinction
December 11, 2019WORCESTER -- WPI junior Lou Duh was honored as a football Academic All-America, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It is the sixth accolade for the program, and fifth for head coach Chris Robertson. The defensive lineman was named to the second team. -
McAllen, Casey and Ostrowski Garner D3football.com All-East Honors
December 10, 2019Bloomington, MN --- The senior trio of Sean McAllen, Sam Casey and Nick Ostrowski were all named to the D3football.com All-East region team on Tuesday morning. It marked the first time in school history WPI has had three selections to the team in the 15 years D3football.com had selected all-region squads. -
Seven Named to NEWMAC's Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams
November 27, 2019Westwood, MA --- The NEWMAC has announced the Fall 2019 All-Sportsmanship team. Logan Gaudette, Jill Comeau, Jivan Purutyan, Abbie Gilbert, Hannah Larochelle and Steve Meyhave been named to their respective NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship teams. Rookie Lora Dufresne from women’s cross-country was also honored. -
79 WPI Fall Student-Athletes Pick Up NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Honors
November 26, 2019Westwood, MA --- WPI placed 79 fall student-athletes on their respective NEWMAC Academic All-Conference teams. Football led the way with 21 selections while women’s soccer boasted 15 and men’s soccer placed ten. Volleyball had seven honorees while field hockey had eight. Women's Cross Country broke its program record by placing ten while men’s cross country saw eight earn accolades. -
McAllen and Lucca Named to the New England Football Writers All‐New England Team
November 26, 2019Cambridge, MA --- For the first time under 10-year head coach Chris Robertson, WPI had a pair of football player selected to the prestigious New England Football Writers College Division All‐New England Team. Running back Sean McAllen earned the honor for the second time while center Vince Lucca was named for the first time. -
McAllen, Engineers Set Program Records in New England Bowl Series Win
November 23, 2019WORCESTER --- Senior Sean McAllen ran for 164 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries to be named MVP and lead WPI past Western Connecticut, 35-6, in a New England Bowl Series game at Alumni Stadium Saturday afternoon. -
McAllen and Casey Reel in Major Awards as 18 Selected Football All-NEWMAC
November 21, 2019Westwood, MA --- WPI seniors Sean McAllen and Sam Casey earned Athlete of the Year honors from the NEWMAC following voting by the conference's football coaches. McAllen was named the Offensive Athlete of the Year while Casey was selected the Defensive Athlete of the Year to highlight 18 different Engineer players to earn recognition from the NEWMAC. -
Ostrowski and Duh Repeat as Five Earn Academic All-District Football Nod
November 20, 2019WORCESTER -- WPI senior Nick Ostrowski and junior Lou Duh have been named to the Football Academic All-District I team for the second consecutive year, as voted upon by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members from Massachusetts and Maine. The duo was joined on the team for the first team by senior teammates Julian Nyland Sean McAllen and Clark Ewen. -

November 16, 2019Northfield, VT --- Sean McAllen rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns in the first quarter and Connor Field added three rushing touchdowns of his own to set a new WPI single-season scoring record as WPI defeated host Norwich 70-28 Saturday to clinch a share of its first NEWMAC championship. -

Football Dealt First Loss of 2019 in Double Overtime Thriller at MIT
November 02, 2019Cambridge, MA --- Mark Wright drilled a 41-yard field goal on the final play of regulation to force overtime and Keithen Shepard pulled down a 23-yard TD pass in the back of the end zone in the second extra session to lift MIT to a thrilling 28-22 home win over previously-undefeated WPI on Saturday afternoon. -

Poly Club Inducts Six into WPI Athletics Hall of Fame; Vassallo Earns Harrington Award
October 07, 2019The WPI Athletic Department, Poly Club, and Hall of Fame Selection Committee is proud to announce its 37th Class, the Class of 2019. The six newest members were inducted on Friday, October 4th as part of Homecoming Weekend. The inductees include: John Bibinski '84 (Football), Kristen (Garza) Reader '11 (Women's Soccer), Steve Graveline '87 (Wrestling), Don Maki '80 (Baseball), Larry Noble (Men's Rowing Coach) and Jason Steele (Women's Rowing Coach). To kick off the evening, Helen Vassallo was recognized as the Frank C. Harrington (1898) Award recipient.
