August 17, 2020Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, WPI’s Athletic department is facing a different sports year. While our student-athletes won’t be competing this fall and early winter, we are committed to making the most out of the situation and will provide quality experiences for our student-athletes with enhanced strength & conditioning opportunities along with skill development, team bonding, and leadership development. In order to meet the federal and state health guidelines for workouts, all physical activities will be moving outdoors as much as possible and indoor facilities will be rearranged to comply with new restrictions. -
NEWMAC Announces Five-Year Strategic Plan
August 12, 2020Westwood, MA --- With the unanimous support of the Presidents Council, the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) is releasing its five-year Strategic Plan announcing Four Strategic Pillars to guide the conference through the 2024-2025 academic year. Reaffirming the conference's commitment to academic and athletic excellence, the Presidents endorsed a plan that focuses on student-athlete well-being, diversity and inclusion and leadership. -

WPI Athletics Announces Update For 2020 Fall Semester
July 17, 2020Sports and recreation are important to our community. WPI students and staff rely on the sports and recreation facilities to help with their personal wellness, while competing in varsity sports, Club, and intramural activities provides a healthy outlet for students all across campus. Unfortunately, in reviewing the significant challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic, WPI has made the difficult decision to not compete in athletic competitions this fall and through Dec. 31. While we acknowledge how disappointing this news is, the health and safety of our entire WPI community remains our top priority. -

WPI students and staff rely on the sports and recreation facilities to help in their personal wellness, and competing in varsity sports, club sports and intramurals provides an outlet for students all across campus. WPI is diligently working within guidelines developed by local, regional, and national athletics agencies so we may safely provide robust access to facilities and programming throughout this pandemic. At this time, no decision has been made regarding when to resume varsity or club sports. -
