Matt Kelly kicks off his fifth year on the Engineers staff and second as offensive coordinator.
2017 was a record-breaking year for the WPI offense as Kelly’s group registered 354 points, the most in the 128-year history of Crimson and Gray football and boasted six All-NEWMAC selections, including All-New England running back Sean McAllen. The offense racked up nearly 400 yards per game a season ago with Kelly directing the league’s most balanced attack.
Prior to joining the Engineers staff, Kelly earned college coaching experience at all three NCAA levels. In 2013 he served as the defensive backs coach at Division II Pace. Prior to that, he spent the season at Division I Rhode Island as an assistant defensive coach and the 2011 season at his alma mater as the running game coordinator, offensive line coach and academic coordinator.
Kelly graduated from Anna Maria where he was a two-year starter for the AMCATS as a wide receiver. Now in his second year full-time on staff, Kelly also teaches PE and serves as a home event manager.
