Scott Sperone kicks off his third year at WPI as defensive coordinator.

The Crimson and Gray was among the stingiest in Division III in 2018, allowing just 12.1 points per game.  His first season was a rousing success as the Engineers finished second in the highly competitive NEWMAC in both total defense and scoring defense.

Sperone recently spent six seasons as the defensive coordinator at Farleigh Dickinson Florham. Prior to FDU-Florham, Sperone spent time at Merrimack, Brown, Williams, Stonehill and his alma mater Springfield, where he earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees. He also has his K-12 teacher’s certification. The safety donned maroon and gray for 1998 Freedom Football Conference champion and NCAA tournament participant along with All-American center John Cena.

In addition to teaching on the gridiron, Sperone puts his skills to use as a PE instructor and serves as a home event manager.
