WORCESTER – Junior Bridget Sullivan (Wilmington, MA) scored the game-winning goal with 7:59 to play as the WPI field hockey team improved to 6-0 with a 2-1 triumph over visiting Conn. College Wednesday night in Alumni Stadium. It is the Engineers best start since going 18-0 heading into the 1992 NCAA tournament.

Both WPI goals were a result of penalty corners. The first was a pass from Sullivan to freshman Angie Ferro (Northboro, MA) at 48:41. The decisive tally was setup by sophomore Abby O'Sullivan (Walpole, MA) who sent the ball across the box to Sullivan.

Conn. College junior Sophie Pollinger (Summit, NJ) received a cross from senior Jamie Navoni (Northboro, MA) to level the game at 1-1 at 56:40. Freshman Meghan Gazard (Ashland, MA) totaled two shots on-goal as six different Camels took aim at the cage.

WPI senior Karen Mushrall (Mariaville, ME) stopped five and sophomore Jackie Cardin (Manchester, NH) contributed with a defensive save.

Overall, the guests owned a 15-11 margin in shots and took six of the nine penalty corners.

The Engineers stay local Friday with a 6pm meeting at Becker. Conn. College (2-3) heads to Hamilton Saturday for a noon start.
