Norton, MA --- Abby O'Sullivan's (Walpole, MA) notched her fourth career hat trick as the WPI field hockey team remained undefeated with a 6-1 road NEWMAC victory at Wheaton on Saturday afternoon.
The Engineers are now 11-0 overall and 3-0 in NEWMAC play. WPI joins No. 1 Middlebury, No. 2 College of New Jersey and No. 15 Centre (KY) as the only undefeated teams in Division III and six in all of college field hockey along with Division I No. 1 North Carolina and Division II No.1 West Chester. All six schools are 11-0 except the Division II Golden Rams who are 12-0.

Carly Cidado (Easton, MA) got the scoring barrage started at 21:12 when she knocked home a rebound for her ninth goal of the season. O'Sullivan then deposited a pair of unassisted markers at 26:20 and 29:39 to transform a 1-0 edge into 3-0 advantage at the half.
Julia Vanderstreet (West Bridgewater, MA) pushed the bulge to 5-0 on an unassisted goal just 1:33 into the fourth period. O'Sullivan then put the bow on her hat trick when she delivered her 14th goal of the game and 45th of her career. She had also registered hat tricks in victories over Johnson & Wales and Clark during her freshman season in 2017 and last year versus Becker.
Hannah Arkin (New Hyde Park, NY) spoiled the WPI shutout with a goal for the Lyons (2-9, 0-4 NEWMAC) with 2:48 to play.
