Gilbert, AZ --- WPI's Shannon Hynes (Auburn, MA) has been selected to participate in the 2019 Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division III Senior Game which is currently projected for 5pm on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Manheim, PA following the completion of the NCAA Division III semifinal games. Hynes is the second back represent the Crimson and Gray, and first since 2018 Hall of Fame inductee Kelly Johnson made the trip to Mount Holyoke in 2009.
Hynes is slated to be joined by fellow NEWMAC honorees Taylor Conley (Springfield), Sammie Pavlov (Smith), and Tori Roche (Babson). Alternates include Babson's Cate Diamond, Welesley's Hannah Maisano, and Worcester State's Olivia Antonelli.
So far this season, Hynes owns one goal, including the game-winner versus Lasell, and four assists for a defense tied for second in goals against average (0.45) and shutouts per game (0.64) in Division III. The efforts on defense, along with a potent Engineer offense, has the Boynton Hillers leading the nation with a scoring margin of 4.45 per game.
For her career, Hynes has five goals and 13 assists in 59 games played (58 starts). On the awards circuit, the senior was once again linked to Johnson when she became the latest NFHCA All-New England East honoree a season ago. The back has also garnered All-NEWMAC accolades the past two seasons. Off the field, the management engineering's local IQP was titled "STEM Education: Establishing Engineering in Elementary Instruction."
Hynes' Engineers (12-0) and Antonelli's Lancers (12-2) will meet Thursday at 4pm at Worcester State's Coughlin Field.
