Field Hockey Falls to Nationally-Ranked Babson in NEWMAC Showdown

Babson Park, MA --- Senior Bridget Sullivan (Willmington, MA) scored her ninth goal of season at 1:33 of the first quarter, but the Engineers fell on the road to the 17th-ranked Beavers. 

Junior Lindsey Giorgi (Barre, MA) had the assist on the WPI goal, playing the ball through traffic into the circle and Sullivan beat her defender to the ball and shot it inside the left post for the goal. 

Senior Kate Driscoll (Milton, MA) had two goals — one off a tip and the other on a redirection — and an assist, senior Tori Roche (Andover, MA) had a goal and an assist, and sophomore Millie Brady (Fair Hills, NJ) had two assists and for Babson, who scored five unanswered goals to close the game. 

Junior Maddy Paro (Manchester, CT) and sophomore Lauren Curley (Stow, MA) also scored for the Beavers, who outshot the Engineers, 13-4. 

Sophomore Ali Gannon (Fremont, NH) made eight saves for WPI and Giorgi added a defensive save, while sophomore Cassidy Riley (Catonsville, MD) stopped three shots for Babson who have won 10 in a row. 

WPI falls to 14-2, 4-2 in the NEWMAC, and will travel up Park Ave. to face Clark at 3:45pm Wednesday.  Babson improves to 15-3 and 8-0 in the NEWMAC, and will travel to Union with a 7pm start time on Wednesday.
