• Lirette and Kirkland Named to NEBCA D3 Senior All-Star Game

    Worcester, MA --- Senior guards Adam Lirette and Jerome Kirkland were chosen to compete in the 2009 New England Basketball Coaches Association (NEBCA) Division III Senior All-Star Game at Babson College on Sunday, April 19. This game was designed to showcase some of the most skilled players in the region. The rosters were selected by several committees made up of area college coaches.

    Worcester, MA --- Jimmy Bartolotta drained a 2009 NEWMAC Tournament-best 37 points, 21 in the first half, to lead second-seeded MIT to a 76-50 victory in the NEWMAC Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship game. The win marks the Engineers’ first NEWMAC title in their second appearance in the championship game. MIT was the runner-up to WPI in the 2006 NEWMAC Tournament. Springfield’s season came to a close with the defeat. The Pride finished with a record of 15-13.

The win gives Springfield a berth in the NEWMAC Championship Game. WPI falls to 20-5 on the season, failing to make their fifth consecutive NEWMAC tournament final.
  • Late Run Pushes MIT into NEWMAC Tournament Final

    Worcester, MA --- With the score knotted at 39 apiece, MIT scored the final 11 points of the game to move on to the NEWMAC Tournament Championship game with a 50-39 win over sixth-seeded Babson at WPI’s Harrington Auditorium Saturday Evening. Jimmy Bartolotta scored six of his team-high 13 points in the final 3:22 to key the win for the Engineers. MIT (19-8) will now face fourth-seeded Springfield in the tournament final Sunday at 2:30pm. Babson’s season ends with a 13-14 record.
