WORCESTER – WPI freshman Logan O'Donnell (Fishkill, NY) has been selected as the WACBA (Worcester Area College Basketball Association) Men's Rookie of the Week while sophomore Kahleb Downing (Middletown, CT) was named to the honor roll.
O'Donnell averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and a steal for the Engineers last week. After scoring four points and collecting a trio of caroms in 10 minutes against Clark University, the rookie netted a career-high 15 points to go with four boards in 20 minutes at Coast Guard.
Downing averaged 18 points, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals. He began by netting 17 of his career-high 19 points in the second half of the Engineers win over Clark. He also notched six helpers and four swipes versus the Cougars. On Saturday, the sophomore paced the Crimson and Gray with 17 points and six boards at Coast Guard.
Fitchburg State junior Nicholas Tracy (Indianapolis, IN) was tabbed as the organization's men's player of the week.
WACBA (Worcester Area College Basketball Association) is an organization billed as "one of its kind in the country" featuring nine colleges, 18 programs plus sports information directors and media members to foster friendships and camaraderie along with promoting the GREAT GAME OF BASKETBALL throughout the TRADITION RICH Worcester County Area.
