Saratoga Springs, NY --- WPI men's rowing concluded its fall season Saturday with a busy day at the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs. NY.
The varsity eight comprised of John Morrissey (New Milford, CT), Nick Cebry (Bedford, MA), Kendall Cotton (Harvard, MA), Alex Barat (Franklin Park, NJ), Gary Jackson (Hopedale, MA), Matt Foley (Pepperell, MA), Jackson Krupnick (Ashville, NC), Matt Deptula (Budd Lake, NJ) and Mitra Marvasti-Sitterly (Glastonbury, CT) placed sixth in a time of 12:07.35. For many of the members of the boat, it was their third race of the day.
The second varsity eight of Keegan Cole (Spencer, MA), Joe Sperry (Northampton, MA), Norm Harris (Gilford, NH), Nick Van Sciver (Wayland, MA), Brede Doerner (Branford, CT), Zach Gendreau (Galesville, WI), Danny Singer (Eldersburg, MD), Dan Seaman (Claremont, NH) and coxswain Robyn Quartararo (Smithtown, NY) grabbed a bronze medal with a time of 12:31.93.
The novices had a good day with the boat made up of Joe Lidwin (Chantilly, VA), Paul Danielson (Niskayuna, NY), Michael Beinor (Sutton, MA), Michael LoTurco (Storrs, CT), Keegan Train (Excelsior, MN), Jack Perry (Londonderry, NH), Dean Schifilliti (Ossining, NY) Bobby Ronacher (Dunedin, FL) and coxswain Kelsey Regan (Winchendon, MA) placing fourth (13:10.89) and the boat comprised of Scott Cazier (Wheaton Ridge, CO), Kyle Bessette (Chatman, MA), Ryan Killea (Hillsborough, CA), Victor Vazquez (Lynn, MA), Tony DiBiasio (Manchester, NH), Joe Ziyao (Nanjing, China), Keane Bacso (Titusville, NY), Adilet Issayev (Almaty, Kazakhstan) and coxswain Quartararo finishing 14th (14:08.97).
As tradition, the eights broke into several smaller boats and the Engineers struck gold on the day in the four and the mixed eight with the women. Also, several doubles and singles posted strong showings on the day.
WPI will be back in action in early April for the spring portion of its season.
