Men's Rowing Kicks off Spring Season by Competing in the Donahue Cup

Cambridge, MA --- The WPI men's rowing program made its 2015 spring debut in Donahue Cup on Saturday, competing against Williams and MIT on the Charles River Basin.  The event was relocated to Cambridge due to ice on Worcester's Lake Quinsigamond.

Rowing into a strong headwind with chop in the basin, the varsity eight finished third in a time of 7:22.1.  The Engineers finished behind Division I MIT (7:04.9), who captured the Cup for the first time since 2009.  Williams was second in 7:07.8.

WPI's second varsity eight struck gold besting Williams by over 20 seconds (7:53.2 to 8:13.8) while the Crimson and Gray's novice eight tasted spring racing for the time and finished the 2000 meter course in a time of 9:49.1.

WPI Men's Rowing returns to the water Sunday, entertaining Rochester, Bates and URI on Lake Quinsigamond.
