Men’s Rowing Retains Baker Cup for 13th Consecutive Year

WORCESTER --- WPI retained the Baker Cup for the 13th-consecutive year as Men's Rowing defeated Tufts and was second overall in the varsity eight while three other Engineer boats earned gold Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond. URI and Skidmore also took part in the regatta.

The varsity eight (6:02.2) was 1.6 seconds behind URI (6:00.6) and well in front of the Jumbos (6:13.37) and Thoroughbreds (6:49.89). The second varsity eight (6:14.1) was over two seconds better than the Jumbos (6:16.26) as URI and Skidmore were third and fourth.

The third varsity eight crossed the finish line in 6:28.3 while Tufts A and B were a fraction of a second apart in second (6:33.44) and third (6:33.92), and URI was fourth. WPI handily won the varsity four with a time of 7:06.9 as URI posted a 7:31.71.

The Engineers now prepare for Saturday's McCarthy/McGee Cup with Boston College along with UMass and Coast Guard.  Action starts at 9:40am.
