Men's Soccer Downed by Endicott in Non-Conference Contest

Beverly, MA --- Behind goals from Evan Couchot (Mason, OH) and Jamie Becker (Fairfield, CT), the Endicott men's soccer team defeated WPI, 2-1, on Tuesday night at Hempstead Stadium.

Couchot opened up the scoring in the 18th minute (17:17) when he tucked home a low shot into the right corner of the net from the left corner of the box after receiving a through ball from Brandon Haughton (Hartford, CT).

In the second half, Becker added an all-important insurance tally for the Gulls when he headed home a cross from Conner Couchot (Mason, OH) into the lower right corner of the net at the mark 57:43 mark of the contest.

Less than 10 minutes later (66:13), Paul Beatty (Halifax, MA) helped WPI cut the deficit in half with a tremendous individual run through traffic up the left wing before slotting a shot into the right corner of the net for his fifth goal of the season.

The Gulls then clamped down on defense the rest of the way as Endicott only allowed four shots total (all off goal) to clinch their fourth straight victory of the year.

Will Manuel (Mount Pleasant, SC) made three saves to improve to 3-1-1 on the year and Connor Hoeckele (Granby, CT) fell to 5-3-0 on the season with the loss.

WPI held a 12-6 advantage in shots while each team was awarded five corner kicks.

WPI (6-3-0) welcomes Emerson to Alumni Stadium Saturday at 7pm and Endicott (6-1-1) hosts Western New England this Saturday, also at 7pm.
