Westwood, MA --- WPI goalkeeper Rufus Adams (Duxbury, MA) has been named as the NEWMAC Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season.
Adams averaged 4.5 saves per game in 200 minutes of action for the Engineers who went 1-0-1 last week. After making five in a mid-week scoreless draw at Middlebury, the junior stonewalled four in a 3-0 home win versus Coast Guard on Saturday. He is currently ranked second in NCAA Division III with a .298 goals against average while the team ranks first with a .268 GAA.
The junior was also a solo honoree back-to-back weeks in September, and shared ownership following the season opener. Clark's Trevor Sheridan (Massapequa Park, NY) was lauded as the league's offensive athlete of the week.
The Engineers (8-2-4) are in Maine Monday for a 6pm showdown with St. Joseph's (ME) (12-0-2). The matchup features the top two stingiest defenses, and two of the top three netminders, in Division III.
