Westwood, MA --- WPI Luke Reiniger (Rowley, MA) was tabbed on Monday as the NEWMAC Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete. Reinger headlined the weekly awards along with Emerson's David Kemp (London, England) the conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
Reiniger scored his fourth goal of the season, the eventual winning goal, in the 71st minute to lift visiting WPI over Clark in the final regular season NEWMAC men's soccer game for both teams. The victory, coupled with Babson's 4-1 victory at Coast Guard, give the Engineers a share of its second NEWMAC regular season in the last three seasons.
The award marked the sixth and final weekly honors for the Engineers this fall. Goalkeeper Rufus Adams (Duxbury, MA) was selected four times as Defensive Player of the Week while Jackson Conroy (Reading, MA) took home Offensive Player of the Week accolades on September 16th.
WPI will host the winner of Tuesday's quarterfinal between fourth-seeded Clark and fifth-seeded MIT in a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal Thursday at a time to be determined Tuesday night.
