WORCESTER – WPI rising senior Ama Biney (Worcester, MA) has been selected to play in an exhibition doubleheader Saturday against the USA Softball Junior Women's National team. Biney is the lone Division III player on the Northeast roster, which was organized by USA Softball Massachusetts.

It is the second time a Division III player has made the team as Clark's Jen Scavone was picked the last time the games were held. This year's event, which is being held Saturday at Concord-Carlisle High School (500 Walden Street, Concord), is set to begin at 3:30pm with the second game to follow at 6pm.

Biney will be joined by student-athletes representing UMass Amherst (4), Boston University (3), Central Connecticut State (3), Albany, Connecticut, Cornell, Lafayette, Providence and Towson. UMass Lowell head coach Danielle Henderson will be assisted by Concord-Carlisle head coach Lisa McGloin.

This past season, Biney collected numerous awards including All-NEWMAC and NFCA All-Region first team selections, as well as her fourth CoSIDA Academic All-District accolade. She returned to the conference's first team after leading the league in walks (23), triples (5), stolen bases (25), stolen bases per game (0.60), runs (50) and runs per game (1.19) while boasting a perfect fielding percentage in 50 total chances.

The junior also batted .370 with 17 extra base hits, 35 RBI and an OPS of 1.079. Biney enjoyed a 14-game hitting streak, including five multi-hit games and a 4-for-4 performance versus Becker, from April 9 until April 22. The Worcester Area Co-Player of the Year also garnered an All-Worcester Area first team nod.
