Biney, the fifth different WPI honoree this season, hit .600 with a triple, two runs, a walk, sac fly and stolen base while successfully fielding both chances in a split with regionally-ranked Bowdoin Saturday.
Kuberka, the first WPI pitcher to garner recognition since April 24, 2017, was second on the team with 4 2/3 innings pitched, appeared in both games and earned the save in the opener versus the Polar Bears. The rookie did not allow a run on one hit and one walk while striking out four and holding the Bowdoin to .067 at the plate.
It was the only weekly awards sweep of the season and the first since Springfield claimed both on March 20, 2017. WPI also accomplished the feat March 14, 2016 and April 13, 2015.
Second-seeded WPI (27-11) hosts a NEWMAC Softball Championship doubleheader Wednesday. The first game features #3 Babson (24-14) and #6 Emerson at 2:30pm with the winner taking on the hosts at approximately 4:30pm. The Engineers swept the Beavers and split with the Lions this season in road sets.
