Wood Nabs CoSIDA Division III Softball Academic All-America First Team Selection
June 09, 2020WORCESTER -- WPI graduate student Caraline Wood was honored as a softball Academic All-America, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It is a repeat selection for Wood, who was named to the first team this spring after drawing second team praise in 2019. -
Wood and Ambrosino Earn Spots on Co-SIDA Softball Academic All-District I Scroll
May 14, 2020WORCESTER -- WPI graduate student Caraline Wood and sophomore Lindsay Ambrosino have garnered CoSIDA softball Academic All-District I first team accolades, as voted upon by sports information directors from Massachusetts and Maine. The duo is now under consideration for Academic All-America accolades. -
74 WPI Spring Student Athletes Garner NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Distinction
May 07, 2020Westwood, MA --- Highlighted by a NEWMAC best 16 baseball players, 74 WPI athletes have earned a spot on the 2020 spring NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Teams. In addition to the baseball honorees, 38 men’s and women’s track and field athletes, 15 members of the women’s rowing team, and five softball players were honored. -
Five Selected to NEWMAC Spring Sportsmanship Teams
April 30, 2020Westwood, MA --- WPI seniors Christine Hovermale (Alameda, CA) and David Larson (Port Tobacco, MD) and juniors Lauren Kaija (Reading, VT), Skylar O’Connell (North Attleboro, MA), and Benjamin Steeves (Hollis, ME) were named to their respective NEWMAC sportsmanship teams for the spring season. Larson represents the baseball team, O’Connell represents the softball squad, Hovermale represents women’s rowing and Steeves and Kaija represent the men’s and women’s track and field teams. -

Wood, Ambrosino, Martin and Tognari Guide Softball to Sweep of Occidental
March 11, 2020Los Angeles, CA --- Day two of the 2020 softball season featured a pair of run-rule victories for the WPI softball team over Occidental. The Engineers took down the Tigers 9-1 in the first game of the doubleheader followed by an 11-0 five-inning victory to close the day. Caraline Wood was 5-for-8 on the day with three doubles, five RBIs and a pair of runs scored for WPI while Lindsay Ambrosino was 3-for-4 in game two including a two-run blast in the second inning to make it a 5-0 game while also scoring three runs of her own and driving in three. -
Bolster's Blast Boosts Softball into Win Column on Opening Day
March 09, 2020La Verne, CA --- The WPI softball team earned a split in its season opening doubleheader with La Verne on Monday, March 9. After a thrilling extra inning contest in game one of the day that fell in favor of the Leopards, WPI bounded back with a 12-2 5-inning thrashing of La Verne to finish out the day. -

October 14, 2019Louisville, KY --- Brittany Bolster (North Kingstown, RI), Caraline Wood (Averill Park, NY) and Lindsay Ambrosino (Chelmsford, MA) were recognized as National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar Athletes for their work in the classroom. -

September 23, 2019In recent weeks, concerns about the mosquito-borne illness Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in the region have increased considerably. The city and state have urged residents to follow guidelines to reduce risk, in particular, by avoiding outdoor activities from dusk to dawn when mosquitoes are most active. -
