Collins, Houghton Shine for Men's Swimming and Diving at Clarkson

Potsdam, NY --- Men's swimming and diving took a narrow 137-125 loss at Clarkson on Saturday, despite numerous strong performances in just the second meet of the season.

Ben Collins (Newbury, MA) won the 200 free and came in fourth in the 100 free while swimming the third leg of the triumphant 400 free relay and the fourth leg of the 200 medley relay. Nick Houghton (Berkley, MA) was victorious in the 200 fly and took a second place finish in the 200 IM and a fourth place finish in the 200 back. Houghton also swam the first leg of the 400 free relay.

Carl Curran (Keene, NH) was another winner for the Engineers, taking first in the 400 free and second in the 200 fly, while also swimming the third legs of WPI's 200 medley relay and 400 free relay B teams. Ben List (Bedford, MA) won the 100 fly and came in second in the 100 free and fourth in the 400 back, while swimming the third leg of the 200 medley relay.

The 400 free relay squad came in first, teamed by Houghton, Collins, Eric Spazzarini (Enfield, CT) and Nick Catano (Goffstown, NH). Spazzarini also came in third in the 100 and 200 backs, and third in the 200 IM. Catano came in second in the 800 free and ninth in the 100 fly.

The team will compete in the New England Invitational in White River Junction, Vermont on Saturday, November 5th.
