Men's Swimming and Diving Competes at the New England Invitational

White River Junction, VT --- The WPI men's swimming and diving program competed at the 2011 New England Invitational in a non-scoring meet on Saturday. 

Eric Spazzarini (Enfield, CT) came in fourth in the 50 fly with a time of 25.69, the best placing for the Crimson and Gray on the day. He also placed seventh in the 1000 free with a 10:48.41 and seventh in the 400 IM with a 4:39.53. 

Andrew Lybarger (Decatur, GA) finished in sixth place in the 1000 free with a time of 10:44.18. Lybarger was also sixth in the 50 breast with a 30.66 and seventh in the 50 free with a time of 23.27. His 50.52 was good for ninth place in the 100 free and he had the same finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:15.24. 

Nick Houghton (Berkley, MA) came in sixth in 400 IM with a time of 4:30.45. He also finished eighth in the 500 free 5:04.89 and 11th in the 200 free with a 1:55.28.  

Joon-Ho Lee (Hampstead, NH) had 27.25 in the 50 fly, good for sixth place. Lee came in 20th in both the 100 and 200 free with times of 54.75 and 2:00.41, respectively. 

Spencer Coffin (Poughkeepsie, NY) had a seventh place finish in the 50 back with a time of 28.82. He also came in tenth in the 50 free with a 24.64, 13th in the 50 breast with a 32.87, 14thin the 500 free with a 5:31.43 and 17th in the 100 free with a time of 53.36. 

John Lucker (Hamden, CT) came in eighth in the 50 back with a time of 30.06. Lucker would also come in 11th in the 50 free with a 25.61, 14th in the 50 fly with a 29.15 and 16th in the 50 breast with a time of 36.60.

The Engineers placed fifth in the 200 free relay, as the team of Carl Curran (Keene, NH), Cullen O'Brien (Ben Harbor, ME), Ben Collins (Newbury, MA) and Lybarger came in with a time of 1:34.87. Lybarger, Curran, Collins and Nick Catano (Goffstown, NH) teamed up in the 400 free relay to finish seventh with a time of 3:32.59. Spazzarini, O'Brien, Lybarger and Collins finished the 400 medley relay in with a time of 3:51.09. 

Up next for the Crimson and Gray will be a road meet against NEWMAC foe Babson next Saturday at 1pm.
