New London, CT --- Sonja Kent (West Boylston, MA) and Nica Sylvia (Martha's Vineyard, MA) each earned second place finishes as the WPI women's swimming and diving program took on Coast Guard on Saturday. Coast Guard would win the meet, 137-97.
Kent continued her strong season with a 4:55.04 performance in the 400 IM, taking second place. Kent's 59.84 gave her third place in the 100 free, and her 2:44.55 in the 200 breast placed her third.
Sylvia placed second in the 1 meter diving with 196.60 and second in the 3 meter diving with a 195.40.
Alana Aubin (Taunton, MA) took second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:26.02. Aubin also had a time of 26.58 in the 50 free, earning her third place. Miye Jacques (Bridgetod, NJ) had a third place finish in the 1000 free with a time of 13:23.72. Jess Shelsky (Nashua, NH) finished the 200 free with a time of 2:15.96, good for third place. Kelin Song (Providence, RI) came in third in the 200 fly with a 2:37.20. Jess Lopez (Palmer, MA) had a 2:22.23 in the 200 back, missing second place by just one one-hundreths of a second. Sarah Meehan (Brewer, ME) had a fourth place finish in the 500 free with a time of 6:23.54.
The 200 medley relay team of Kent, Song, Aubin and Alexandra Sanz-Guerrero (Ann Arbor, MI) came in second with a time of 2:03.74.
Up next for the Crimson and Gray will be the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, December 3rd.
