Worcester, MA ---Andrew Lybarger (Decatur, GA) continued his stellar season, winning three events as WPI men's swimming and diving fell short to Clark, 125-102, on Wednesday evening at the Clark campus.
Lybarger placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a winning time of 1:50.29. In the very next men's event, Lybarger won the 50-yard freestyle (22.35), and later was triumphant in the 100-yard freestyle (48.52). Ben List (Bedford, MA) won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.28. List was also fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (22.73).
Nick Houghton (Berkley, MA) placed second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:47.81. The team of James Perez-Rogers (Woodstock, NY), Keith Gagnon (West Hartford, CT), Ben Collins (Newbury, MA) and List teamed up to earn a second-place finish in the 200-yard Medley Relay, coming in with a time of 1:43.94. Gagnon placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.80) and fourth in the 200-yard IM (2:10.60) while Perez-Rogers was third in the 100-yard backstroke (59.04).
Keahi Goodale (Kailua-Kona, HI) was third in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:57.18) and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.33). Eric Spazzarini (Enfield, CT) finished third in the 200-yard IM (2:10.38). Spencer Coffin (Poughkeepsie, NY) placed third in the 100-yard butterfly (57.72). Cullen O'Brien (Bar Harbor, ME) had a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.06) and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (51.96).
Up next for the Engineers, the team will host the Bears of Bridgewater State on Saturday, February 4th. The meet will begin at 1:00pm. The Cougars, meanwhile, travel to the Wheaton College Invitational on Friday and Saturday, February 3rd and 4th.
