Women's Swimming and Diving Captures Four Events in Loss to Clark

Worcester, MA --- WPI women's swimming and diving lost to Clark, 140-102, on Wednesday night at the Kneller Center, despite four individual victories. The Engineers are now 4-5 on the season.  

Sonja Kent (West Boylston, MA) won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.08 and finished first in the 500-tard freestyle with a time of 5:28.28. Heather Peruffo (Poughkeepsie, NY) won the 100-tard butterly with a time of 1:02.95. She was also second in the 200-yard IM (2:23.48) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.01). Jetta Garrity (Lynn, MA) had a first place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, coming in with a time of 1:16.39.

Sam Sargalski (Windsor, CT) placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (26.68) and fourth in the 1-meter diving (176.55 points). Kelin Song (Providence, RI) finished second in the 100-yard freestyle (58.49). Song was also third in the 200-yard IM (2:25.22). Antonia LaBella (Warwick, RI), Jetta Garrity (Lynn, MA), Alexandra Sanz-Guerrero (Ann Arbor, MI) and Song teamed up to finish second in the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 2:03.39. LaBella was third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.57) and fourth in the 200-yard IM (2:33.56).

Nica Sylvia (Martha's Vineyard, MA) placed third in the 3-meter diving event, totalling 232.72 points. Sylvia was also third in the 1-meter diving with 218.30. Taylor Briseno (Mansfield, MA) finished third in the 1000-yard freestyle (12:08.55), fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:11.50). Jess Lopez (Palmer, MA) was third in the 200-yard free (2:06.71), third in the 50-Yard Free (27.47) and third in the 100-Yard Free (58.76). Kelsey Wall (Marshfield, MA) had a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststoke (1:19.72).

Up next for the Crimson and Gray, WPI will host the Bridgewater State Bears on Saturday, February  4th. The meet will begin at 1:00pm. Clark will travel to the Wheaton College Invitational on Friday and Saturday, February 3rd and 4th.
