Brunswick, ME --- The Women's Swimming and Diving team returned to the pool Saturday and saw its 1650-yard relay claim victory in a 136-48 loss to host Bowdoin.
The foursome of Sonja Kent (West Boylston, MA), Eva Childers (Henniker, NH), Tori Claverie (Derry, NH) and Heather Stratica (Wappingers, NY) took the 1,650 relay with a time of 18:04.40, winning by a margin of 24.79 seconds.
Kent also turned in a silver medal performance in the 400-yard IM, finishing second in a time of 4:59.67 as WPI had four of the top six finishers.
The Engineers also had two other second place finishes, both in the freestyle relays. Abbegail Nack (Ghent, NY), Zoe Eggleston (Newtown, CT), Amanda Konieczny (West Springfield, MA) and Sierra Fowler (Bensalem, PA) posted a time of 1:46.13 in the 200-yard Nysa Casha (North Andover, MA), Claverie, Konieczny and Emily Martin (Penfield, NY) clocked a 3:53.60 in the 400-yard.
The freshman Martin was also WPI's top finisher in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:19.45, while senior Sam Sargalski (Windsor, CT) also claimed third in the 1-meter dive (151.35 points) and 3-meter dive (145.50).
The Engineers rounded out the meet with a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay (4:20.58), third in the 200-yard medley relay (1:59.09), and fourth place in the 800-yard medley relay (9:31.40).
WPI returns to the pool this Friday and Saturday, hosting the Worcester City Championships.
